Base Metals Trader (Aluminium)

About the company

I am working with the Metals Trading arm of a renowned state-owned conglomerate. We are looking for an experienced Base Metals Trader with at least 5+ years of experience in Aluminium to join their growing team.

This role can be based in Singapore or Shanghai.

Key responsibilities

  • Trade in Aluminium, handling both physical transactions and futures market hedging using SHFE and LME.
  • Develop and maintain upstream/downstream channels in the spot trading of aluminium, with import and re-export trading modes
  • Collect and organize market information of the Aluminium industry for market analysis
  • Formulate business strategies, plan budgets, monitor counterparties, mitigate risks, and manage exposure, collaborating with support functions.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Aluminium trading with deep industry knowledge
  • Strong industry networks and relationship
  • Well-versed in using futures for spot hedging and arbitrage
  • High-level negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in Mandarin is required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
