Electrical Design Engineer - Medical Device

Job description

Role Overview

This role is responsible for the design, verification, and lifecycle support of electrical and electronic systems used in regulated products. The engineer will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, testability, and regulatory requirements from development through mass production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical/electronic systems for new and existing products

  • Perform design verification and validation activities

  • Troubleshoot electronics, firmware, and system-level issues

  • Prepare technical documentation including specifications, risk assessments, test protocols, and reports

  • Participate in design reviews to ensure testability and manufacturability

  • Develop test fixtures, jigs, and test programs in collaboration with R&D and manufacturing teams

  • Provide engineering support for production, manufacturing, and test systems

  • Own electrical design aspects across the full product lifecycle (development to commercialization)

  • Resolve technical issues through structured problem-solving and engineering methodologies

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance

  • Apply design control processes to ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems and ISO 13485


Ideal Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical/electronic product development

  • Hands-on experience testing electrical systems and PCBAs

  • Proficient with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and safety testers

  • Experience with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, PADS)

  • Strong background in electronics hardware design, verification, and troubleshooting

  • Experience with EMC and electrical safety certifications

  • Familiarity with IEC 60601 and IEC 61010 standards

  • Solid understanding of product testing, diagnostics, and test fixture development


Key Skills

  • Power electronics, microprocessors, PCBA, and high-speed signal design

  • Knowledge of electrical safety and technical compliance standards

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities

  • Clear technical communication skills

  • High standard of technical documentation and reporting
