We are seeking an IoT Engineer to join our client's engineering team, supporting the design, integration, and deployment of Industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and power monitoring applications. You will be responsible for integrating field devices, developing communication interfaces, and ensuring reliable connectivity between industrial equipment, IoT devices, and monitoring platforms.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in industrial communication protocols, IoT programming, and system integration, who enjoys working across both software and hardware in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
System Integration & Deployment
- Work closely with contractors, vendors, and internal engineering teams to oversee the installation and commissioning of digital power meters, IoT devices, routers, and communication equipment.
- Ensure all installations are completed according to project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Support commissioning activities and troubleshoot system integration issues during deployment.
Industrial Communication & Programming
- Interpret electrical schematics, battery system control documentation, and communication manuals to configure industrial devices.
- Develop and program IoT applications to enable seamless communication between Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), controllers, and monitoring platforms.
- Configure and integrate industrial communication devices using Modbus, serial communication, TCP/IP, MQTT, and related protocols.
- Ensure reliable data acquisition, transmission, and interoperability across connected systems.
Software Development
- Develop, customize, and troubleshoot applications using Node.js, JavaScript, Node-RED, Python, or similar technologies.
- Support enhancements to existing software platforms and integration solutions.
- Collaborate with software and engineering teams to improve system functionality and performance
Monitoring & Maintenance
- Monitor the performance of deployed assets and online power monitoring systems.
- Diagnose and resolve communication, connectivity, and integration issues.
- Support preventive maintenance initiatives and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in system integration, industrial automation, IoT, or industrial communication engineering.
- Experience working with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), energy management systems, or industrial control systems is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, serial communications (RS232/RS485), TCP/IP, and MQTT.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages including Node.js, JavaScript, Python, Node-RED, or R.
- Exposure to C#, PLC programming, or SCADA systems will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex integration issues.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites within Singapore as required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with IoT platforms and edge computing.
- Understanding of industrial networking and cybersecurity principles.
- Knowledge of energy storage systems, renewable energy, or smart building technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud-based monitoring platforms and data visualization solutions.
