Lab Ops & Facilities Lead

Role Overview

A senior operational role responsible for ensuring laboratory and facility infrastructure is safe, compliant, scalable, and efficient within a regulated chemical and R&D environment. This position sits at the intersection of facilities management, regulatory compliance, ISO systems, and operational execution, supporting a highly automated laboratory and production setup. The role partners closely with leadership, EHS, contractors, and Singapore authorities to enable sustainable facility growth and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, safety, and maintenance of laboratory and office facilities

  • Design and optimise lab operational workflows aligned with ISO and regulatory standards

  • Lead facility modification, expansion, and infrastructure projects (lab reconfiguration, equipment installation, capacity growth)

  • Manage all vendors, contractors, consultants, and service providers related to facilities

  • Own licences, permits, and regulatory approvals for chemical laboratory operations in Singapore

  • Act as primary contact for audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions

  • Maintain and improve ISO documentation, SOPs, records, and management systems; drive CAPAs

  • Establish KPIs, preventive maintenance plans, and risk assessments for operational resilience

  • Develop and test emergency response plans, drills, and incident protocols

  • Provide operational reporting, planning, and professional representation to senior leadership


Ideal Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field

  • 3-5+ years of facilities/operations experience in laboratory, chemical, pharma, or biotech environments

  • Strong knowledge of Singapore regulatory bodies (NEA, SCDF, JTC, URA) and lab-related licences/permits

  • Experience maintaining ISO-aligned systems and supporting audits

  • Proven track record in managing facility projects or expansions in regulated settings

  • Understanding of lab infrastructure, chemical safety, HVAC/MEP systems, and basic CAD drawing review

  • Strong organisational, documentation, and multi-project management skills

  • Independent, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-growing, startup-style environment

  • Clear and professional communication skills
