Physical Commodities Trader - Silicon/Lithium/Cobalt/Rubber/Steel

We are working with a leading commodities company which is a wholly owned subsidiary of a large transnational conglomerate engaged in financial services, resources and energy, real estate, infrastructure, engineering contracting, manufacturing and other businesses.

They are looking to expand their business regionally and are looking to hire experienced Physical Commodities Traders who deal with any of the following commodities: Silicon/Lithium/Cobalt/Rubber/Steel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the procurement and sale of bulk commodities and spot goods in Southeast Asian countries through third-party arrangements.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the industry and bulk commodities sector, backed by a substantial portfolio of high-quality business resources and well-established business channels.
  • Drive the expansion of trading operations in Southeast Asia's third-party countries by independently cultivating, retaining, and overseeing client relationships, risk management, and transaction facilitation.
  • Take charge of integrating and overseeing the entire bulk commodity supply chain, with responsibilities spanning both upstream and downstream business activities.
  • Monitor real-time market dynamics in the bulk commodities sector, stay informed about price trends, analyze relevant policies, and offer guidance and support to the company leadership for decision-making purposes.

Requirements:

  • Possess over 8 years of practical work experience in the commodity trading industry
  • Solid and widespread established network in the industry with counterparties (producers, buyers, traders etc)
  • Strong track record of executed and profitable trades in the region
  • Demonstrate outstanding independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, logical thinking abilities, a high degree of teamwork, and the ability to handle pressure effectively
  • Prior experience setting up/growing a trade desk or business would be a plus
  • Mandarin language skills are required to liaise with internal stakeholders

Additional information:

  • The role can be based in Singapore, any SEA country (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam etc) or potentially other parts of Asia with some travel
