Principal Engineer- RF MEMS & Metamaterials

Job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a senior-level RF MEMS and Metamaterials specialist to lead the design, development, and advancement of next-generation RF technologies. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibility, working across research, engineering, and product teams to translate innovation into real-world RF solutions.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work while also guiding teams, shaping technical direction, and influencing long-term technology roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of RF MEMS-based solutions, including switches, impedance tuners, phase shifters, and antennas

  • Drive end-to-end RF MEMS development across the full product lifecycle, from concept and simulation to prototyping, testing, and validation

  • Build and oversee experimental platforms to evaluate RF performance and reliability

  • Conduct RF, EM, and MEMS simulations to guide design decisions and improve performance

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (RF, mechanical, electrical, materials, and software) to integrate MEMS technologies into products

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers and researchers

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and academic research in RF MEMS and metamaterials

  • Support technology strategy, roadmap planning, and feasibility assessments for future products

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, or a related discipline

  • Strong hands-on experience in RF MEMS design and development for RF applications

  • Solid understanding of RF MEMS components such as switches, impedance tuners, phase shifters, antennas, or metamaterials

  • Experience with RF measurement and test equipment (e.g. VNA, spectrum analyser)

  • Proficiency in MEMS and EM simulation tools (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL, HFSS, CST)

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, R&D-driven environment

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
