Refurbishment Engineering Lead - Fleet & Vehicles

Role Overview

This role leads the engineering and delivery of refurbishment programs for ground support equipment and specialty vehicles. You will define technical scopes, manage refurbishment execution across internal and external workshops, and ensure refurbished assets meet performance, safety, cost, and timeline requirements. The position combines hands-on technical judgment with project, vendor, and lifecycle cost management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define refurbishment scopes, engineering specifications, and approve technical improvements or modifications for specialty vehicles and ground support equipment

  • Develop material packages, testing requirements, and procurement strategies to support refurbishment programs

  • Manage refurbishment activities across on-site and off-site workshops, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence

  • Drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives with contractors to enhance productivity and cost efficiency

  • Conduct receipt inspections, in-process checks, and final commissioning/testing of refurbished equipment

  • Coordinate fleet expansion activities, including ramp-up planning, training, and workforce onboarding

  • Partner with procurement teams to optimize lifecycle costs and maximize value capture

  • Ensure refurbishment programs are delivered on time and aligned with operational needs


Ideal Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (Master's preferred) with 7+ years of senior technical and project leadership experience in refurbishment, maintenance, or large-scale engineering programs

  • Strong exposure to managing service providers and in-house teams across equipment refurbishment or fleet maintenance

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical/electronic systems, engines, or electrified equipment

  • Background in aviation ground operations, aviation maintenance, land transport, industrial vehicles, or fleet-based environments

  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance, automation, or autonomous technologies is advantageous

  • Comfortable supporting critical operations, including availability on weekends or public holidays when required

  • Valid Class 3 driving license is a plus
