Voice / Voip Engineer


Job Description - Enterprise Voice A&E Engineer

  • Looking for a professional engineer with in-depth knowledge of carrier/transport and SIP access technologies.
  • The role sits within an Access/Shared Services Engineering team, supporting Architecture and Engineering functions for enterprise communication and employee experience technology solutions.
  • This position is responsible for developing program schedules, defining tasks, preparing communication materials for senior leadership, and maintaining engineering documentation in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide program guidance and develop timelines from an engineering perspective, in partnership with the Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Support business-driven projects and initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership on program status, risks, and open issues.
  • Develop ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) and SOW (Statement of Work) for projects, including equipment placement and licensing.
  • Assist in preparing Bill of Materials (BOM), cost estimates, and equipment planning documentation.
  • Deliver software and hardware support for complex integrated environments including:
    • SBC (Sonus/Ribbon 9k, 7k, 2k)
    • SecureLogix, Intrado E911
    • SIP / Session Management
    • VoIP, LAN/WAN
    • Integrations with Avaya, Cisco, Genesys
  • Perform SIT testing, documentation, scripting, Method of Procedure (MOP), and low-level design (LLD) for implementation and configuration.

Professional Competencies

  • Minimum 10+ years of telecommunications experience.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Session Border Controllers (SBC), especially Sonus/Ribbon
    • SIP / TDM trunking
    • Telecom protocols: SIP, RTP/RTCP, ISDN, H.323, H.248, MGCP, codecs
  • Experience in:
    • QoS configuration, jitter analysis, bandwidth optimization
    • LAN/WAN networking, routing, switching
    • PBX / ACD systems, CTI, IVR, call flows, routing design
  • Experience working in complex, multi-layer enterprise environments.
  • Ability to collaborate across globally distributed teams.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and train others
