Business Development Manager

Job description

My client, a European transportation and logistics company, is currently hiring an experienced Business Development Manager to join their team. As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving business growth in specific markets by formulating trade lane strategies, coordinating operations, managing customer relationships, promoting agent business solutions, and implementing effective sales promotion strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with origin and destination offices to establish clear policies and strategies in the mentioned countries.
  • Drive continuous growth of local and self-controlled customers in partnership with our agent and local Asia sales teams, where applicable.
  • Arrange direct visits to both existing and potential customers to strengthen relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Generate qualified sales leads for the agent's UK and India teams.
  • Coordinate and follow up on all sales leads received from or sent to the agent.
  • Provide commercial and communication support to the agent and local sales team as needed.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with the agent and other partners.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with customer requirements.
  • Organize and execute schedules for overseas visitors and potential customers.
  • Document all sales activities in company's Pipeline system, regularly sharing updates with the agent.
  • Assist in payment collection from local customers when required.
  • Utilize market and cultural knowledge to ensure smooth relations between staff and the agent's UK and India teams.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of forwarding and logistics activities across all process levels, including export and import, air and ocean freight.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with an operational background who wish to transition into a sales role.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player.
  • Demonstrated motivation to suggest and implement process improvements, enhancing overall sales performance.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office products.
