Automated Chemist

Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct experiments for automation projects, ensuring accurate and reliable data while delivering project milestones on schedule.

  • Collect, process, and analyze experimental data based on AI-assisted spectral interpretation; prepare figures and reports using scientific software (e.g., Origin, ChemDraw).

  • Evaluate the performance of AI models and automation hardware components in chemical applications, and propose improvements where necessary.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot software or hardware issues in the automation system, providing timely feedback to equipment management teams.

  • Work closely with AI, automation, and cross-functional teams to develop and enhance an AI-driven laboratory automation platform.

  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, environmental compliance, and cleanliness; ensure proper equipment use and routine maintenance.

  • Mentor junior researchers, provide guidance on routine system applications, and share technical knowledge and experience.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or the company.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Chemistry or a related field; background in automation engineering or computer science is a plus.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in organic synthesis; experience in CRO/CDMO environments (3+ years preferred).

  • Solid knowledge of organic chemistry and hands-on R&D experience, with the ability to operate laboratory instruments and perform routine maintenance safely.

  • Strong analytical, learning, and problem-solving abilities with a results-driven mindset and focus on continuous improvement.

  • Proficient in commonly used chemical software and databases (e.g., ChemDraw, SciFinder, Reaxys) and capable of conducting literature research and independent synthesis work.

  • Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and teamwork, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Passion for pharmaceutical R&D and interest in AI- and automation-driven innovation in the industry.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English as you need to engage with China partners

  • Willing to travel internationally for training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-throughput or automated chemistry technologies.
