Every now and again, we try to give back to the community at Ambition. This month, 10 Ambition employees visited Beyond Social Services in Tiong Bahru to offer our help to the less fortunate.
In a country like Singapore, it is too easy to turn a blind eye to the underprivileged when you are overwhelmed with the rat race, high-rise buildings, and fast-paced society. Honestly speaking, it’s also not the first thing you think of when you wander through this country. But beneath it all, there are lots of families and children that struggle to make ends meet and require the help of others. Last week, the Ambition family was blessed to be able to help the less privileged in Singapore through Beyond Social Services.
Christmas time is not the happiest time for every family as many have problems of their own, whether financial or otherwise. Beyond Social Services is a fantastic organisation that helps these families. In December, their team went around to the underprivileged children in the area and asked them for a wishlist for Christmas and reached out to sponsors for donations. For whatever reason, some gifts were not delivered as people were not home, etc. As a result, many hands were required to go around and deliver these gifts to their door. That’s where we came in! Think of us as little green Christmas elves from Ambition.
And what a rewarding and eye-opening experience it was for us! It’s heart-warming to see the smiles light up these children’s faces when they see a wrapped present arrive at their door – priceless! Over the hours spent helping, we delivered lots of gifts and spent some time with the kids. One young adult, living on her own, asked for a bed. Thankfully it was only a 10-minute walk and 8 flights of stairs to get there but again, the excitement was worth the hardship of carrying it. What’s more, we went the extra mile to buy her new bed sheets, pillows, a bolster and a blanket. This was the icing on the cake and a very special feeling.
We are very grateful to be able to work with organisations like Beyond Social Services and get a chance to give back to those less privileged than ourselves. We look forward to other great things we get to do as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
